A Great Nonstick Option

A Great Nonstick Option

I highly recommend Caraway cookware as they are a great nonstick option. Gradually over the past decade, I’ve increasingly preferred stainless steel and cast-iron pans over typical nonstick pans. It correlates with the general awareness about the forever chemicals that most nonstick pans contain. I didn’t have a nonstick option that I felt good about given my desire to reduce my family’s exposure to synthetic chemicals. After I got rid of our family’s collection of Teflon and other synthetic chemical-based nonstick pans, I tried to use stainless steel and cast iron with eggs and other dishes better suited to a nonstick pan with varying degrees of success.

So, I did some research and found ceramic and enamel pans. After pouring over reviews, I decided to try Caraway. Their motto is “Cookware as clean as your ingredients.” The pans are beautiful, functional, and the finish feels more natural than a typical nonstick pan – they are aluminum pans coated in ceramic. I bought the full set.

Pros

They do have a higher price tag, but certainly not on the highest end of the spectrum. The sizes are practical for a family of five. The lids come with a hanging pouch for the cupboard door that is convenient and space-saving. As for cooking, they are fantastic! I will caveat that this is coming from someone who has been cooking eggs in stainless-steel pans for the past couple of years or so. The eggs slide off with no problem if a little oil is used. Even my husband loves them and thinks they’re an improvement over the old nonstick pans.

Cons

Blueberries from blueberry pancakes can sometimes get burnt and hardened on the pan, but it is nothing a little baking soda and elbow grease won’t fix. I would say my biggest complaint is that the exterior coating of the pan is difficult if not impossible to clean sometimes. But that’s really an aesthetic issue and is a low priority if it is safe from toxins, functional, and economical.

I’ll update this article in several months to a year if anything changes, but my recommendation is a 4.5/5 stars. Caraway is a great nonstick option.
